Waste Treatment Plant's Story
Many families rely on free and reduced school lunch programs during the school year and must turn to local food banks to feed their children during the summer. The KNDU Feeding Families Food Drive helps local food banks stock up for the high-demand summer months. In the Mid-Columbia, food banks are seeing an increase in the amount of families in need of assistance.
In 2011, 2nd Harvest raised nearly $420,000; in 2012, they raised over $425,000. WTP contributed over 20% of the total donated to 2nd Harvest for the last two years. Our efforts provided 1,000,000 meals to those in need in Benton and Franklin Counties. Let us not forget those among us who are less fortunate and, at the same time, be proud of our continued commitment to our community!
Please consider making cash donation to feed the hungry in our community. Cash donations are valuable, as Second Harvest can leverage its buying power though vendor contracts.
Employees and groups are encouraged to team up for a ton, since $1 purchases 6 pounds (5 meals), $333 purchases one ton of food (1,665 meals!).
